Split Fiction Brings Back Friend’s Pass with Crossplay—Your Co-Op Partner Plays Free

EA and Hazelight Studios have released a brand-new trailer for Split Fiction, spotlighting the return of the beloved Friend’s Pass—now enhanced with full crossplay support. Players can experience the game’s explosive co-op adventure together, even if only one of them owns the game.

With Friend’s Pass, anyone who purchases Split Fiction can invite a friend to play the full game for free, regardless of platform. And for the first time, Split Fiction supports crossplay between PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, making it easier than ever to connect and play across devices.

Even better? If neither player owns the game, both can still enjoy a free trial together using Friend’s Pass to sample Hazelight’s signature split-screen storytelling and gameplay innovation.

 About the Game

Split Fiction is a genre-defying co-op experience starring Zoe, a spirited fantasy novelist, and Mio, a grounded sci-fi author, who find themselves trapped in a simulation made from their own stories. Designed entirely around two-player collaboration, the game offers wildly varied, genre-jumping gameplay set in immersive sci-fi and fantasy realms.

From hoverboard chases to magical puzzles and mecha battles, Split Fiction delivers a cinematic co-op experience built on trust, timing, and teamwork.

“Friend’s Pass is central to our vision of shared play,” said Josef Fares, founder of Hazelight Studios. “And now with crossplay and a free trial option, even more players can join in the fun, no matter where they are or what they play on.”

 Launch & Access

Split Fiction launches March 6, 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and the EA App, priced at $49.99.
