Breaking News: Wuchang: Fallen Feathers – Soulslike Set in Ming Dynasty China Confirms 2025 Release

This Sekiro-meets-Bloodborne tale set in war-torn Ming Dynasty China could be 2025’s sleeper hit.

505 Games and developer Leenzee have officially announced that Wuchang: Fallen Feathers will release in 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, bringing a richly atmospheric new entry to the ever-growing Soulslike genre.

Set during the final years of the Ming Dynasty, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers infuses classic Soulsborne elements with deep roots in Chinese mythology, folklore, and history. Players take on the role of Bai Wuchang, an amnesiac pirate cursed with a mysterious affliction known as Ornithropy—a disease that slowly transforms victims into avian monstrosities.

“We wanted to blend punishing combat with a setting rarely explored in the genre,” said Leenzee Games in a press statement.

Soulslike with a Cultural Twist

Inspired by titles like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Nioh, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers features fast-paced melee combat, strategic spellcasting, and boss battles that demand precision, patience, and creativity. But it’s the game’s setting—steeped in Eastern aesthetics and historical decay—that gives it a distinctive edge. Players will navigate cursed temples, plague-ridden villages, and dense, myth-haunted forests as they search for the truth behind Wuchang’s condition and the world’s unraveling.

Myth, Madness, and Mutation

As Wuchang succumbs to the Feathering disease, her abilities evolve—but so does the risk. The more powerful she becomes, the closer she gets to losing her humanity. This transformation system is both narrative and gameplay-driven, offering dynamic progression as well as a unique challenge: survive without becoming the very thing you’re trying to destroy.

Looking Ahead

With its Unreal Engine 5 visuals, brutal yet refined combat mechanics, and narrative centered on identity and decay, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing action RPGs of 2025.

Fans of Bloodborne, Sekiro, and dark historical fantasy have something fresh to look forward to—and with 505 Games backing the project, expectations are high.
