Paris, 13 February 2025 — One of the most enigmatic titles to emerge from the PlayStation ecosystem this year finally has a date with destiny. Revealed during Sony’s February State of Play, Hell is Us, the hauntingly beautiful action-adventure from publisher Nacon and acclaimed developer Rogue Factor, is officially set to launch on September 4, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Pre-orders have already gone live on the PlayStation Store, with Xbox and PC listings expected in the coming days.
New Trailer, Familiar Voice
A gripping new trailer debuted during the showcase, spotlighting both the game’s brooding protagonist, Rémi, and a glimpse into the war-torn world he inhabits—a nation sealed off from the world, now stalked by supernatural horrors. Lending his voice to Rémi is none other than Elias Toufexis, known for standout performances across television (The Expanse, Star Trek: Discovery) and gaming royalty (Assassin’s Creed, Starfield, Deus Ex).
Toufexis, reuniting with Deus Ex art director Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, now the artistic and creative lead on Hell is Us, praised the project:
“Remi is particularly interesting: while he may seem cold or reserved at first, we gradually discover the complexity of his character, and the events that have shaped his personality. The world of the game is so endlessly fascinating. I can’t wait for people to play it!”
A Return to the Roots of Adventure
Hell is Us promises more than eerie vistas and voice acting gravitas. The third-person action-adventure aims to revive the spirit of classic exploration by stripping away modern conveniences. Players won’t be guided by objective markers or intrusive HUDs, but by their own curiosity and observations—a philosophy dubbed “Player-Plattering” by the developers.
Combat plays a central role, blending visceral melee engagements with tactical equipment use. As Rémi uncovers the mysteries of his past, he’ll also confront twisted, monument-like entities tied to the land’s tragic history.
From the Minds That Shaped a Genre
With Jacques-Belletête’s legacy from Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Mankind Divided clearly influencing Hell is Us, and Toufexis once again inhabiting a layered, morally ambiguous lead, fans of narrative-driven, cerebral action games have reason to be excited.
Hell is Us launches worldwide on September 4, 2025. For fans of Control, Deus Ex, and Senua’s Saga, this may be one of the most intriguing games of the year.
Will you brave the horrors that lie beyond the barricades?
